Careful Work in an Established Enclave
Meridian Hills is a small, wooded town about 8 miles north of downtown Indianapolis, and epoxy flooring jobs here usually involve older, larger homes. Residential building started in the early 1920s, and Meridian Hills Country Club opened in 1923. The town sits on high ground above the White River and Williams Creek. It had 694 housing units in 2020, and owners tend to stay, so many of the floors we see have been through several renovations.
What older garages here tend to need
Garages in established homes have often been rebuilt, expanded or attached after the house was first built. Before we quote, we check for:
- Different pours joined together, sometimes at slightly different heights
- Old paint, sealers or a coating from a past remodel
- Settled sections near the apron and driveway
- Stains from decades of parking
We grind off old finishes, level seams where it makes sense and fill cracks before priming. Then we build the floor up in layers.
Lower levels and finished spaces
Many homeowners here want the basement or lower level to look finished, not utilitarian. Options we often show:
- Metallic epoxy. Poured, swirled color that works in a wine room, bar or media space.
- Fine flake in a muted blend. A softer look than a garage flake, with good grip.
- Solid color with a satin topcoat. Clean and simple for gyms and hobby rooms.
Below grade, we always start with a moisture test. Older foundations and slabs can let vapor through, and we choose the primer to match the readings.
Respecting the property
Lots here are wooded, and driveways and landscaping are part of what owners value. On every job we:
- Run grinders with vacuum dust collection
- Keep equipment and materials on protected areas
- Mask walls, cabinets and doors before we coat
- Walk the space with you at the end
If you need us to work within certain hours or keep a work area out of view, let us know when we schedule.
Leaves, grit and a sealed floor
Wooded lots mean leaves and grit tracked into the garage most of the year, along with salt in winter. A flake floor with a clear topcoat hides that debris between cleanings and sweeps up quickly. A leaf blower or a soft broom is often all it takes.

Larger and specialty garages
Some homes here have three-car garages, tandem bays or space set aside for a collector car. Others have a garage that doubles as a workshop or storage for outdoor gear. For a collector space, many owners pick a solid color or fine flake with a high-gloss or satin topcoat to show off the car. For a working garage, a heavier flake hides wear better. We can also add a stripe, border or color change to mark a workbench area or a parking spot. All of it is quoted in writing before we start.
Season and temperature
Coatings need the slab and the air to stay inside a temperature range while they cure. Detached or unheated garages are best done from late spring into fall. Heated garages and lower levels can be coated much of the year. On install day we check the slab temperature and moisture, and if conditions are wrong we would rather move the date than put down a floor that will not cure properly. A short delay costs far less than redoing a floor.

Meridian Hills Questions
Can you make a lower level look like a finished floor?
Yes. Metallic epoxy and fine-flake systems with a satin topcoat give a finished look. We bring samples so you can see the color in your own light.
How do you keep dust out of the rest of the house?
We grind with vacuum dust collection and mask doors and openings. Most of the dust is captured at the grinder head.
My garage was added onto at some point. Does that cause problems?
Not usually. We find where the pours meet, grind them as level as practical and treat the seam as a joint so any movement does not crack the new floor.
