Resin Floors for Carmel Businesses
Commercial floor epoxy covers concrete in places that work harder than a house: retail floors, clinic back rooms, restaurant kitchens, fitness studios, auto bays and storage areas. Carmel has a large business base. The Meridian Corridor holds more than 40 corporate headquarters, and the city's largest employers include CNO Financial Group, GEICO, IU Health North and Allegion. Around those offices are the service businesses, shops and medical spaces that need durable, cleanable floors.
Picking a system for the use
- Retail and office: solid color or decorative flake with a tough clear coat, chosen for looks and easy cleaning.
- Kitchens and food prep: textured, seamless systems that handle hot water washdowns and grease, with coved edges where needed.
- Clinics and labs: seamless floors that stand up to disinfectants.
- Shops, auto bays and warehouses: thicker 100% solids builds for rolling loads, dropped tools, oil and fluids.
- Gyms and studios: impact-resistant coatings under mats and equipment.
Cost and thickness
HomeAdvisor lists industrial floors needing a 100% solids coating at $12 or more per square foot, and says high-grade coatings for heavy use add 20% to 30% to a job. Thicker builds take longer to cure, so the schedule and the system get planned together.
Working around your business
Commercial floors usually have to go in when the space is closed. We phase large floors in sections, work nights or weekends when needed and use fast-curing polyaspartic topcoats when a quick return matters. Before we start, we agree on what has to be moved, how the space will be ventilated and when staff can walk on the floor.
Salt and winter traffic
Entrances, loading areas and auto bays in central Indiana track in road salt all winter. The Michigan Tech review for the South Dakota DOT notes that magnesium and calcium chloride, both used in deicers, can attack concrete chemically. A chemical-resistant topcoat at those entries, plus regular cleaning, protects the slab underneath.
Prep on commercial slabs
Commercial concrete often carries old sealers, adhesives from removed flooring, oil and patched areas. We grind or shot-blast to open the surface, repair joints and cracks and test moisture across the floor. Moving joints are honored with flexible fillers so the coating does not crack along them.
Floors in older buildings
Not every commercial space near Carmel is new. Strip centers, older office flex buildings and shop space in Anderson, Lebanon or Speedway may have slabs with decades of patches, tile adhesive or a thin coating that has worn through. We map those areas at the site walk, test moisture in several spots and price the removal separately, so you can see what the prep costs.
Safety and footing
Texture is part of the spec. We add aggregate to the topcoat in wet areas, ramps and entries. Safety striping and color zones can go into the floor during the job.

Commercial Floor Epoxy Questions
Is epoxy flooring good for restaurants?
Yes, when the system is chosen for it. Kitchens need a seamless, textured floor that handles hot water, grease and cleaning chemicals, often with coved edges at the walls.
How long does commercial epoxy last?
It depends on traffic, cleaning and the system. A thin coating under daily cart and pallet traffic wears much faster than a thick 100% solids build in an office or clinic. Worn traffic lanes can usually be sanded and given a fresh topcoat before the base wears through.
Can you work after hours?
Yes. We schedule nights and weekends and phase large floors so part of the space stays open.
Can you coat over an existing commercial floor coating?
Sometimes. If the old coating is well bonded, we can abrade it and recoat. If it is peeling or contaminated, it has to come off first.
